Being the parent of a new baby, even if it's not your first, can be challenging. Although the birth of a new baby can bring much joy and excitement it is also a challenging and overwhelming time with sleepless nights, new routines and expectations that you should have all the answers.
Take care of yourself and seek support from your Public Health Nurse, family and friends or talk to us in Cura. We can provide support and practical information to you in your role as parent of a new born baby including:
Personal and Emotional Support
Cura counsellors will listen and support you in relation to your worries, fears and concerns. Their knowledge and experience will ensure they understand your situation and needs.
Information on your welfare rights and entitlements
Information of your rights as a mother or father
Information and support with accommodation
Support and information in relation to returning to work or education
Support in relation to finding childcare
Linking with other services and supports in your local community. Cura counsellors can support you with getting involved and making links with other local services.
This support is available to mothers and fathers of a new born baby whatever your age and whether its your first baby or not, if you are parenting alone or joint parenting, and whether your baby was planned or unplanned.
The service is also available to grandparents and guardians.
Support is provided on a one to one basis in your local Cura Centre or you can talk to us on the
