Dealing with an unplanned pregnancy when you are not in a relationship can be challenging. You may be worried about telling the man involved, or you may not know who he is, or how to contact him. You might be scared to tell your family or friends, and be afraid of what their reactions might be. You may not want to tell anyone at all.
Other people’s reactions
You may have already confided in family, friends, or the man involved, and not got a supportive reaction. You could feel particularly conscious or sensitive that you are not in a relationship. You also may feel pressure to make decisions now which others feel are for the best, but you are unsure of.
Sometimes it can help to speak with someone outside of the situation. Talking to a counsellor can help.
Talking to us
Your Cura counsellor can be there for you and support you as much as you need. We can give you a safe space where you can take the time you need to think things through. The counsellor will not pressure you or direct you in any way, but will let you talk about how you are feeling, and help you to make decisions about your future.
How do I arrange it?
If you would like to talk to a counsellor, you can call our Helpline on 1850 622 626. Click here for more info on calling us.
You can also call in to your local centre during opening hours, and meet with a counsellor face-to-face, or you can arrange an appointment for a time that suits you.
You can bring someone with you or attend by yourself if you prefer.
