I’m worried about a friend

I’m worried about a friend

My friend just told me she’s pregnant

It can be a shock when a friend confides in you the she is pregnant, especially when she had not planned to be. You might feel surprised, frightened or worried for her. Maybe you feel you didn’t react they way you should have, or maybe you were lost for words. You might feel that she’s in need of help, but be unsure as to how you can support her.

I think my friend is pregnant

You might have noticed changes in your friend’s behaviour, or maybe you suspect that she is pregnant and she is unaware of this, or not ready to face it. You might want to support her, but you could be unsure of how to bring it up. You might be worried that you will say something wrong, or hurt your friend.

My male friend is dealing with an unplanned pregnancy

Unplanned pregnancy affects men too. Your friend may be worried, anxious, and uncertain about the future. You might be unsure of what to say to him, or how to support him to talk about how he is feeling.

How can I support my friend?

Talking to a counsellor can help. You can talk through the situation with someone experienced who can help you to support your friend.

Your counsellor can also be available to support your friend, and you can go along with your friend to an appointment if they wish.
