My family are unhappy

My family are unhappy

Families can react to an unplanned pregnancy in many ways. Your family members may be surprised, delighted, or shocked. They might be worried about money, concerned for your health, your future, or may not agree with the decisions you have made. You might feel like they are angry with you, or are disappointed. They may hold strong beliefs that make it difficult for them to accept the situation.

I live with my family

If you live with your parents or other family members, they may be concerned about the future, and how your pregnancy will affect their lives.

What now?

Your family may have told you that they are unhappy or you may just suspect that this is how they are feeling. Concerns about your family can add to your own worries at this time. Sometimes it can help to talk to someone who is not involved in the situation.

Talking to a counsellor

A Cura counsellor can listen and support you, and help you to decide for yourself how, when, and if you will tell them. If you need, we can provide a safe, neutral space for you and your mother, father, or both parents to talk things through. Your parent(s) may want to come and talk to us by themselves about any concerns they may have, and we can arrange for this too.
